Version 4.0 - "The Disk of Knowledge"
The Dinosaurs needed some serious programming help to re-arrange DOK 4.0 into the next generation of software. Larry's son Craig began developing new code using Visual Basic and soon DOK 4.0 was ready for deployment. This release cataloged files using an Access Database allowing for Indexing, Filtering, and Searching for both Files and Topics. Articles can be added as "favorites" and then later recalled for viewing using the favorites list. Files were displayed in the web browser. The software was designed to run stand alone or as a Network-Client with one database common to all client PC's. Version 4.0 has become a success story application throughout the Corps of Engineers. On September 11, 2001 our Country was forever changed. The Corps of Engineers has been called into service to assist the fight against terrorism. Corps employee's from around the globe were calling Elton and Larry for assistance with Construction Contract Administration in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. The next generation software needed to be web based. For over one-year Larry looked for assistance and finally found some assistance from an old friend Mr. Bill East at CERL.
